OVERVIEW
Nursing and Midwifery Course:
Nursing and midwifery are both important parts of healthcare, and nurses and midwives are often the first health professionals that people see:
- Nursing
Nurses provide care for people of all ages, in all settings, and for a variety of needs. They promote health, prevent illness, and care for the sick, disabled, and dying. Nurses are often the first to detect health emergencies and are vital to the delivery of primary health care.
- Midwifery
Midwives specialize in women’s reproductive health and childbirth. They provide care from adolescence through menopause, including prenatal care, attending the birth, and postpartum care. Midwives also educate new parents on infant care and support new mothers who are breastfeeding.
- Nurse-midwives
Nurse-midwives are certified professionals who provide holistic care to women at many stages of life. They can perform physical exams, diagnose and treat medical conditions, and write prescriptions.
- Education
Nursing and midwifery courses cover a range of topics, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, patient care techniques, and professional ethics.
